There was a day not too long ago when I felt surrounded, wondering if victory by faith was even possible in the middle of so much fear.
Nothing dramatic on the outside, but inside?
The thoughts, the fears, the “what ifs” marched in like an army.
I didn’t have a plan.
I didn’t even have the energy to figure one out.
All I could pray was, Lord, I don’t know what to do.
Turns out, I’m not the first one to feel that way.
Seeking Victory by Faith
In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat heard that a vast army was coming against him. His first reaction could have been panic. Instead, he turned his attention to God.
He gathered the people.
They fasted.
They prayed.
And in the middle of that desperate moment, he prayed a line that feels like truth wrapped in grace:
“…We do not know what to do, but our eyes are on you.” – 2 Chronicles 20:12 (NIV)
That’s where victory by faith begins – not with a battle plan, but with a heart that seeks Him first.
“Victory begins not with a battle plan, but with a heart that seeks Him first.”
Standing in Victory by Faith
God’s answer came through a prophet:
“…For the battle is not yours, but God’s…You will not have to fight this battle. Take up your positions; stand firm and see the deliverance the Lord will give you…” – 2 Chronicles 20:15–17 (NIV)
Jehoshaphat didn’t rush to fight. He took his position.
Standing in faith isn’t passive – it’s posturing your heart in trust.
It’s choosing God’s strength over your own.
It’s staying steady when fear wants you to run.
Singing in Victory by Faith
Here’s the plot twist: Jehoshaphat sent singers ahead of the army.
Not warriors.
Not weapons.
Worshipers.
They sang, “Give thanks to the Lord, for His love endures forever,” and as they worshiped, God set ambushes against their enemies. The battle was won without a single sword lifted.
Worship was their warfare.
When You Feel Surrounded
The “inhabitants” you face may not be an enemy army. They might be old patterns, heavy fears, or unhealed wounds.
Whatever they are, the invitation is the same:
Seek God first.
Stand in what He has said.
Sing before you see the victory.
Because the battle belongs to Him – and His kind of victory always comes with peace.
Journaling Your Way Through the Battle
When fear is loud, journaling is one of the best ways to quiet your heart and realign with God’s voice. Writing down what you’re facing helps you see it clearly, rather than letting it swirl in your mind.
